“Together the nurse and the client creatively design a new or different care lifestyle for the health or well-being of the client. This mode requires the use of both generic and professional knowledge and ways to fit such diverse ideas into nursing care actions and goals. Care knowledge and skill are often repatterned for the best interest of the clients…Thus all care modalities require coparticipation of the nurse and clients (consumers) working together to identify, plan, implement, and evaluate each caring mode for culturally congruent nursing care.”
When a Filipino nurse leaves her home town, she leaves with her values of care. She enters into a realm where change can quite be an obstacle but becomes her humble making as an evolving care provider and where social change begins to question her views of her cultural origin. Her preparations were laid to become the skilled practitioner but less is emphasized in becoming a transcultural practitioner. However, she is not to be left unequipped because her heart speaks the language of human caring, in greater confidence, as she makes her way to become acculturized in her new environment. She is able to blend well because her exeperience of home makes her effective, simple in terms but is transcending. Her compassion is her great esteem that in face of a new social climate, she is capable of a meaningful representation. The video clip above makes this representation as she, in the character of Ms. Nora Aunor with her mother, anticipates this phenomenon.
Leininger’s Culture Care Theory states that caring is the essence of nursing and unique to nursing. Four nursing metaparadigm concepts were redefined: (1) the term ‘nursing’ thus cannot explain the phenomenon of nursing—care has the greatest epistemic and ontologic explanatory power to explain nursing; (2) the term ‘person’ is too limited and culture-bound to explain nursing, as the concept of ‘person’ does not exist in every culture; (3) the concept of ‘health’ is not distinct to nursing as many disciplines use the term; and (4), the concept ‘environmental context’ (instead of ‘environment’), includes events with meanings and interpretations in particular physical, ecological, sociopolitical and/or cultural settings.
A client who experiences nursing care that fails to be reasonably congruent with his/her beliefs, values, and caring lifeways will show signs of cultural conflict, noncompliance, stress and ethical or moral concern. Care always occurs in a cultural context. Culture is a framework people use to solve human problems. Therefore, the practice of transcultural nursing addresses the cultural dynamics that influence the nurse–client relationship. This entails having care measures in harmony with the client's cultural view of health.

I learned from my philippine history professor about globalization. Filipinos are fond of this and you cannot blame them for being one because they are just trying to fit in and impress the people around them.
Just like in the desperate housewives tv show wherein terry hatcher who plays a role there, discriminated a medical doctor thinking that he earned his/her degree in the philippines.
Some people who works abroad experience this. Sometimes they would rather turn back from the values, morality and culture that they have learned from birth till they became a nurse in order to fit in with the different cultures and lifestyle abroad which is totally wrong.
Nobody is perfect, Yes. But, we cannot make ourselves perfect either just to fit in with the lifestyle and culture abroad.
I think, we could always learn new things about the lifestyle and culture of the country you will be staying but rest assured that this new things will be able to help you in your chosen profession and help you develop to be a better individual and not change the person who you had become.
I believe that you can always prove yourself to other people for what you are. Its just a matter of standing up for yourself and doing your job as a nurse without changing what you have to be in order to be one of them.
The nurse should practice caring first in his/her home to blend her experience, and to become a skilled practitioner before going to hospital duties or before going abroad to work there.

Filipino NUrses are Indeed Qualified persons, globally competetive and most of all compassionate and at the same time caring.
Nurses who comes from the Philippines are equiped with knowledge and passion for the nursing field thats our edge among other nurses because we Filipinos cary our heritage our culture where ever we are where ever we go How are environment is chaged in any way we Give passion and focus in our Profession not just a Registered Nurse but as a Filipino Nurse.-REYES, JUMAR JOSEPH A. 2-7
Our tradition has always been preserved through times eventhough we've been colonized by three influential countries..A Filipino nurse is known for her caring role because our culture involves being family-oriented and we are taught to be loving and caring at a young age by our parents itself, this values will be brought on when we go to other countries and will be very helpful to a nurse - patient relationship.
Filipino nurses are very popular abroad because of the different care and concern we are used to. Unlike to other countries their practices have served them as their service also. Filipino nurses abroad, know for a fact that when they will be exposed to different culture when they are in a different country. And respecting this culture of a country is one great attitude of the Filipino people. We might not adopt their culture but we respect them. That why Filipinos are globally competitive too. Another is, their compassion and dedication to their work is a unique character of a Filipino nurse.
It's a big fact that Filipino Nurses are in demand in other countries. It's simply because of our being unique and special in our way of caring to others and showing our love and concern. This attitude makes our Nursing Care different and special. That's why I'm very proud that I am Filipino and someday, a Filipino Nurse!
Being caring and compassionate, as one of Filipino culture, is one of the easiest way of treating the illness of the patient. The work of a nurse should come from his/her heart to get better result.
I believe that Filipino nurses going abroad have fear in their hearts. But, they just have to believe in themselves and have God to lead them make it somewhat easier. They have the quality of being flexible to any situations with any people. They blend easily with different people and culture.
Filipino Nurses are unique and special!!!
For me, if you want to help anybody else,,,you should remember to help Pilipino people who are needed our care....try to think that many ill client needed us like taking good care them...TLC...but we don't have any chace to choice wer to we are to work...but it doesn't mean na jyou forgot to be a Filipino citizen...true Filipino should always maintained to be ONE....
Indeed Filipinos could well-adapt in a different culture specially regarding Nursing Practice and that's one of the reasons of being globally competitive. It is because we have a unique way of caring for other people, even without formal education, Filipinos have a heart to care for others even if they are from different culture. I even consider it as one of our inner edge on others and it is for this reason that we are popular and in demand abroad.
On the other hand, as I have read this article, it seems to me that it says a lot on the idea that we shouldn't leave the country and care for foreigners who has a different culture of their own. Instead, it's like encouraging the reader to take care of the people whom we share our culture-the Filipinos which are our own. I see nothing wrong in that idea but I also see nothing wrong conquering our dreams. Unfortunately, it is impossible here in our country. But, after that, the vision's end is to always come back to our roots-the Philippines.
Filipino Nurses are globally competitive in professional nursing and practice that's why they are in demand in other countries because of their unique and special way of caring the patient. They treat their patient not just nurse-patient relationship but they also treat them as families... in caring the patient they give their best, love and heart (TLC)and willingness to their profession....

Those Filipino nurses who wants to go in other country make adjustment because we have different culture compare to them.As a student we must remember by heart the value of care and apply our learnings based in our experience. The nurses must have the experties that first learn from their homes that acquire from the care given by their mother and then by using also their knowledge that comes from learnings and experience will help them a lot to be a successful nurse not just here in the Philippines but also in other country. Though the other countries have different culture we must adapt on it in order to show the uniqueness of Filipino nurses in giving care.
Adaptation, one of the essential things that needs to be considered if a person is going to move to one place to another. The environment won't adjust to what you already got used to. Given the fact that the person is new to the place, he or she should be accustomed to what their tradition is, but on the other hand it doesn't mean that the person is refrained to practice his/her own beliefs. Observing and learning things regarding your surroundings is the best way to adjust to a place. When you get used to it, that is the time you can share to them what you traditionally do. Aside from the things you learn, you were able to impart then knowledge of what your culture is all about as well.
As a person, you don't need to erase the things you have learned before thinking that you wouldn't be able to use it since your in a foreign country. Furthermore, we should learn to improve it and teach others aswell. By doing so, you can be more effective as a Nurse. Most of the vital things are learned from experience in addition to the books that you read.
being a nurse needs heart..for it will be very easy to render care if you have your heart in it., traditionally filipino nurses engaged themselve in a profession with their heart and mind in it,. for you can't give your 100% care if you're doing your profession because it is required..
to be continued,.
Most of the nurses now a days go abroad to work for them to help their families. And she brings the different values that she learned.
Being a nurse is not that simple, you should have the knowledge and skills. When you go abroad, you will experience and see different cultures. As a nurse you should be able to cope with it.
Perform what you believe is right and what the client needs. All practices are the same even in other countries, its just the point of view that differs. If you dont like your patient because he/she is hard to blend with or you are afraid because he/she dont like you, you may not give the right care for that patient, and that makes a nurse ineffective. You cannot call yourself a nurse if you dont have the heart to help people especially your country and your country men..
filipinos are one of the best caring person throughout the world but every country has different culture and belief thats why filipinos take time to adjust to others culture but whenever they live our country they put thier heart on it to give thier best in giving care, even they are far from thier families they treat thier clients as thier families.
filipino nurses can able to cope with other culture when they spent long time thier. its not easy to fit in and impress other people but when they already cope up with it, filipino nurses are the best among all carers.
filipino nurses are indeed different from other nurses abroad...we have our tender loving care to our clients...filipino nurses are good thats why filipino nurses are very much indemand abroad!
Filipino nurse are in demand in abroad because of our caring in the patient and the culture that they have. They are globally competitive that very special to every Filipino people.Filipino nurse dedicating his/her job to care other eventhough they did not know his/her client.....That's the FILIPINO PRIDE....
within that video, i saw how filipino nurses give their full effort when going to other countries, it's their one way of impressing foreigners, but in the real essence of a filipino nurse, they should not be just impressive but they must be competitive.
Filipino Nurses here and abroad has a trade mark of being globally competitive and compassionate of what they are doing. It is always a fact for us that Filipino nurses are in demand everywhere because for their caring role. They treat every patient as their family. They always show their care and respect for every person they encounter. We should be proud of Filipino nurses.
We all nkow that filipino nurses are in demand in u.s...maybe some people are asking why filipino nurses are in demand in u.s,right?it's simply because WE filipino nurses are doing our job as if we are taking care of our loved one..And i am very Proud that someday i'll be one of them!..
i strongly agree that filipino people are caring and globally competetive, that is why we are indemand in other countries because of our culture and nature of being caring and kind. it is our strong points when it comes to patient and nusrse relationship. us filipinos do not just perform a simple work but we give our best and show love to patients. that is why i am proud of being a filipino. my opinion is that filipino nurses should serve the philippines before other countries. it is our obligation to love our fellow filipinos.

Filipino nurses are in demand because; our nurses are giving the best service they can give to their patient. Leaving the country for a job abroad is hard, because you will be far away from your family, but our nurses takes all the sacrifices and leave the country confident enough that they can give their best to whoever they will be caring... that is why Filipino nurses differ from other country because we are giving our service wholeheartedly…
